Do you retire or not? Your manager Ziggy Rozalski says only your wife ishes so. Mariola says you promised her to retire after Ruiz fight.
I promised her nothing. She just wants me to sit at home and not keep getting hit. That's normal, every wife wants her husband to stay at home, take care of kids, take out garbage instead of wandering around.
How long are you gonna train?
Till I keep feeling young. Right now I feel like I'm 18. It's only a pity my muscles don't want to listen to the head anymore so much.
How do you handle pressure from preparations to John Ruiz fight?
Very well so far. I have two sparring partners, will have another one soon. Sam will also increase the number of rounds. Just the thought of it makes me feel pain :)
Sam Collona said you were number 1 heavyweight in the world. What do you say?
I have nothing to comment on. Sam knows boxing.
Whom from the top heavyweights you think you can't beat?
They tell me to fight the guy, I do it the best I can.
Didn't work out with Tyson, neither with Leiws. Would you fight rematches?
Why not? Although I'm not sure if it still makes sense. Even if I beat him you guys would say "the Beast"
lost teeth long time ago. But on a second thought, it always makes sense. Everybody would talk about this fight.
Tyson made frineds with Don King again?
On Saturday I was in New York watching Trinidad-Mayorga fight. That was King's show. Tyson sat right next to the ring. Apparently they like each otehr again.
Sooner or later King can make a rematch.
Anything's possible with King. But he has a different plan for now. He wants to have the best heavy. The start of the "qualifications" is November 13 in Madison Square Garden. There will be four heavyweight fights, including two for championships.
They say you started doing parachuting?
I didn't start, I finished, at least for now. I have 30 jumps already in the last two years. I had an unpleasant adventure recently, had to jump out at a low level and use a spare parachute. The wind took me far away and I sprained my ankle a little bit when landing. When Sam saw me, he called me names like never. I had to stop for a while. BTW, I thought boxing was most dangerous and I had to stop parachuting to be able to train bxoing!
Were you afraid before the first jump?
I don't anybody who weren't. When we were falling already I started to call myself names. An old guy doing crazy stuff. But they didn't have to push me out od the plane.
Co jest najtrudniejsze w skokach?
The moment, when you have to jump out. I'm still trembling. But when you fly it's great fun, maybe even greater than boxing.
Doesn't your wife mind your boxing?
Man, what I go through everytime I leave home for parachuting! If I promised her not to do it ever again she would allow me to do boxing till I am very old.
You're doing boxing, parachuting, tennis, basketball. What else?
Diving. I dived as deep as 85 feet in Jamaica. I have to do it again.
Do you feel like doing any other extreme sports?
Yes, I'm thinking about extreme skiing. I've been training for the last few years, maybe next year I'll climb some steep mountain and ski downwards...
